About three years ago I can't remember if it was on Facebook or Pinterest that I spotted this beautiful stamp, Poppy Girl by Unity Stamp Company. It was love at first site. The curiosity of a faceless woman or the vibrant colors used to color the image, whatever it was, in that moment, I knew I had to have her. So I went to UnityStampCo.com and saw they had a sale! Well, you can only imagine that I didn't just get this one stamp.
Even to this day... it's one of my favorites. So this week, for Growing in Unity, I wanted to start with the stamp that started it all. For this week, I wanted to share a technique that I've been enjoying a lot lately that creates subtle dimension on a card.
Step 1: Stamp the image and see where you can cut a part out to make it pop. For this image, I knew I'd cut out the girl leaving the flowers off.
Step 2: Color the girl only and fussy cut her out. Once you've cut her out, use a black marker to color the white edge of your paper.
Step 3: Stamp the image again and color in the background. For Poppy Girl, I colored in the flowers in a yellow to match the base pattered paper I had planned on using. I then fussy cut the whole image.
Step 4: Stamp the image on the patterned paper you plan on putting on your card in the right spot. I knew that I'd be cutting out the sentiment, so I wanted to make sure I placed it in the right spot. Next, I used Frayed Burlap Distress ink to shade the edges.
Step 5: Using Scrapbook Adhesives Thin 3D Foam Squares, I pop up the larger fussy cut image onto the stamped patterned paper.
Step 6: Using the same thin 3D foam squares, I popped up the girl onto the already popped up larger layer of the stamp.
Step 7: I stamped the sentiment on scrap. I die cut it using Lawn Fawn's Stitched Rectangle dies. Next, using the same Frayed Burlap Distress Ink, I shaded the edges of the die cut sentiment.
Step 8: I adhered the patterned paper to a beige card base. I then added the popped up Poppy Girl image over the stamped one on the patterned paper and adhered the sentiment.
Step 9: I added some Stickles to the to flower centers and her bracelets for a little bling.
