Happy Friday! It’s Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules and I’m sharing a simple way to add dimension without bulk in your next card. Today’s blog is featuring the first Sentiment Kit of 2021 called “Hello Fresh Start.” This kit consists of a beautiful rose bouquet and 13 beautiful sentiments for all of your cards this year.
From above, the card appears to be a one-layer card. However, I stamped the floral image once on this card piece along with the sentiment. I then stamped the same floral on another sheet and cut out the four roses.
Using Old Paper Distress Ink, I blended some color around the floral image on the card piece. Next, I colored the flowers using Copic Y02 and the leaves using G94 and G24. Because I was going to cover the flowers, I didn’t do all the shading on that piece. Instead, I colored the roses on the second stamped piece using Copic Y08, Y06 and Y02.
Once the second set of roses were colored, I cut the four main flowers out. Using a black Memento marker, I colored the white core edge of the roses cut so that they blend in. Then I glued the bottom of the flowers bending the piece so it give a little volume to the edges, making the flowers come to life… without much bulk.
I colored these roses yellow as they represent friendship, joy and caring. Today, more than ever, we need to support some of our friendships. We need to listen to each other and try to find the good in each other. Things are hard and complicated… but love, love can help us heal. So let’s be the better person, the better friends and together, we’ll make things better.
