'Tis the season for love. Valentine's Day is right around the corner and my son asked me to make a card for his beautiful girlfriend. It makes me so happy to see him happy. And I truly feel appreciated when he asks me to create a hand made card for her. Now the challenge is creating a Valentine's Day from a guy to a girl. Not too feminine and not too masculine... but I've got an idea. I pulled out Unity Stamp Company's December 2018 Kit of the Month: "Best Friend Till the End" and put this card together. Follow along to get more detail.
Because this card was intended to come from my son, I felt the need to scale back on embellishments, but I still wanted details. I used the Embossed Edge Rectangle Dies by Kat Scrappiness to die cute some Bristol Smooth paper. This die gives a hint of detail without too much fuss. Next, I masked the bottom edge and stamped the guy using Ink on 3 Blackout Hybrid Ink (Copic friendly) in my Misti.
Coloring time...
Pants: BG96 & BG93
Shirt: T2, T0 & 0
Belt: E59
Skin: E34, E53 & E51
Hair: E59 & E25
Heart: R59, RV29 & R27
Using Post-It Removable Labeling Tape, I made a mask of the same guy and covered the color image in order to stamp the background with the sentiment. Yep... the sentiment is in the background.
Once the image is covered, I stamped the "be mine" sentiment in the same kit over and over around the image using Momento London Fog.
Adding a little more details, I splattered some watered down Gina K - Cherry Red Premium Dye Ink and added Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Hickory Smoke to the edges.
Last, I stacked this over grey card stock and adhered it to a red card base. Not too bulky or flashy, but focused on love. I really love the look of the sentiment behind him as if sometimes, a guy finds it hard to say what he's feeling.
