A Ruff Take on Mona Lisa

Ever see a stamp and have a crazy idea?! Well, this new Furever Friends stamp by Sassy & Crafty Stamps instantly gave me a vision of Mona Lisa as a dog. I think stamps can be anything you want them to be. You can color them in lots of different ways to make them be whatever you imagine... including an incredibly famous painting. 💁🏻‍♀️

For this card, I kind of cheated and printed the background of the Mona Lisa from a google search. I added a little Copic coloring to the background so that it would still look like it belonged with the stamped image. Next, I stamped her and colored her with similar colors, browns and greens and warm greys for her glasses. She was fussy cut to the line. Whenever I fussy cut an image to the line (meaning, not leaving the white border), I like to use a black Copic friendly marker to darken the white core of the the paper. It also helps the image stand out a little more.

Now, I could have done a frame for the full background, but I thought it was more fun to just frame the pup on the background. Using a Jillian Vance Design die called Vintage Frame, I die cut three frames in black and one in gold. I also cut a layer of the gold card stock to frame the "painted" background. I glued the the three black frames together, and then glued the dog on top before adding the final gold frame. To keep the dimension behind the dog, I added thin foam squares by Scrapbook Adhesive. I love the added dimension of the frame and do on this card, making this "painting" come to life!

I hope you enjoyed this quick card and fun idea. Check out Sassy & Crafty Stamps for more fun stamps to make your next card!
