Adding Dimension and Depth

Happy Friday! This is Jules of Paper Gems by Jules on the blog ready to layer up cards with the new Forever Close stamp set. I love this technique and it's a little time consuming, but if you like fussy cutting... it's relaxing. And the results are 3D and very cool. Let's get into it!

The first step is to stamp the image three. I fussy cut the camera out of one, the camera and floral out of another and then the frame of the last one. Once they are all cut, use a black marker like a Memento brush pen to add black to the edge of the images to cover the ivory core.

Because these images are going to be layered, you don't have to color them completely. For the base layer, just color the edges of the image that is sticking out and you can add distress ink to make the background glow. Remember that the camera and the floral will be covered. Then color the floral cut out with all the detail and you can color the edges of the camera. Last, color the camera completely. You'll stack these up with foam squares or foam tape.

When you stack the images, it gives it a very 3-dimensional look. You can also add some glossy accents to the camera lenses if you want to add even more dimension. I chose to keep it rustic and simple and added the sentiment on the inside.

And this sentiment is just beautiful with the script and print fonts. It'll go great with lots of other Unity stamps like Cierra Girl and Pretty Girl Smile.
