Psst, if you haven't heard, I was picked to be part of the design team for (my most favorite stamp company) Unity Stamp Company. I remember the first time I saw "Harmony Girl." She was one of the many "Angie Girl" series by Angie Blom, an artist for Unity. The look, the sentiments... it was crafty love at first site. Soon enough I signed up for the KOM (Kit of the Month) because it was guaranteed happy mail. So you can only imagine the sheer joy knowing that I could be part of this AMAZINGNESS!!
So today, I whipped up something special for a very special person in my family. I started with a 5" x 7" canvas board. I then had some beige paper with a subtle pattern that was okay to stamp and color over, and I cut it to 5.25" x 7.25". I first stamped some of the florals from the Unity September 2018 KOM "Flowers, Foliage and Fall" set. I masked some of them and then stamped the Unity "Jane Girl" and one of the sentiments. Next, I used the Tim Holtz Blossom Layering stencil and shaded it around the sheet using Evergreen Bough and Rusty Hinge Distress Ink.
Once done coloring in the images, I laid the paper over the canvas and used Mod Podge on the back of the paper to adhere it to the canvas. I also had additional paper in a similar beige with a deep teal colored birds and foliage. Once the canvas was dried, I fussy cut the birds with leaves out and added it to the left and right of the paper, sealing it with Mod Podge. Next, it needed a little more, so I added burlap butterflies I had in my stash, distressing them with ink before adhering them to the canvas as well.
For some final touches, I used the Rusty Hinge Distress Ink on all the edges of the canvas and added glittery Stickles to the stems in the center of the flowers.
This little canvas art will be gifted to a dear relative for her birthday! It'll be a reminder of how far she's come! Unity does that... they encourage and enlighten us! If you haven't... check them out today!
Thanks for joining me and Happy Crafting!
