Well, not only did my birthday fall on a Monday 👎🏻, but a Monday during a mandatory quarantine! I'm not the only one and surely, I'm old enough to know it's all going to be okay. I made this detailed card with all those other folks that really wanted to go big this year. Maybe it was a benchmark year or something big that you wanted to celebrate with your loved ones and you can't... at least not yet. Well, this one's for you.
Using a very old paper pack by Crate Paper that I bought at Marshall's. I pulled out the Unity Stamp Co. January 2020 Kit of the Month: You Are Enough-New Beginnings and Margaret Girl. Using the patterned paper, I paper-pieced the sofa, pills, throw blanket, curtains and even the blinds. Yes it took a while. Yes, you can't really see the pillows. Yes... I loved doing it. Margaret got a shiny black dress with shoes to match her balloons, thanks to some fun Copic marker coloring and a little stickles. The same paper pack provided wallpaper on this card and the flooring. Using some dimensionals, I propped up the sofa scene and then used those same dimensionals behind the balloons and shoes of Margaret to keep it balanced. Last... I added a simple sentiment from Tim Holtz idea-ology Small Talk adhesive sentiment strips.
It's totally okay to not be okay with this, but remember, this is temporary. Remember that we're trying to help those that wouldn't be able to fight off this virus. Remember to be thankful for all that you do have. So if you're sitting on your sofa this birthday... celebrate the best way you can! Make your favorite meal, eat cake for breakfast... whatever! Just make the best of it.
