A Summer Kind of Girl

Hi there!  This is Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules and I'm so excited to be participating in Unity Stamp Company's blogs. And I'm so stoked to showcase one of the many amazing stamps in the July 2020 Kit of the Month:  Life is Better in Flip Flops.

I love the vintage bathing suit in this illustration and wanted to give it a classic black & white vibe using the Toner Grey group of Copics.  I used E34, E21 and E51 for her sun-kissed skin.  For the sand, I started with Antique Linen Distress ink at first, and ended up coloring over it with E55.  For the greenery, I used G21.  The leaves are thin enough that you don't need to blend.  For the water, I used BG34, BG32 and G00.  For the top part, I simply used Tumbled Glass and let it be a little spotty to give it a light cloud effect.

But the fun in this one is how this card is opened.  I cut a 3.5" x 4" piece of white card stock for the inside layer.  I then cut to longer pieces of 3.5" wide pieces and stamped the image on one and stamped the sentiment on the other.  I folded the edges over the inside layer so the edges would be behind it. For the top, I used a scalloped edge die and some ocean themed washi tape for a little interest.  Last, I adhere that to a 110 lbs. black card stock cut to an A2 size card.

This fun flip card is a fun change of pace to the standard A2 card.  I hope you found this card fun and inspiring.  If you decide to make a card using this idea, I'd love for you to share it on the Unity Show & Tell Facebook page and tag me so I can see!

Thanks for following along and I'll see you next week.  Until then...

Happy Crafting!

Jules
