Keep Shining, Sweet Friend
There are some people who simply have a way of making the world a little brighter—and when I saw the new Keep Shining, Sweet Friend, I immediately thought of one very special lady: Dolly Parton.
With her big blonde hair, sparkling personality, love of books, and even bigger heart, Dolly was the inspiration behind my coloring of this sweet image. 💕 I may have channeled just a little Dolly magic into those curls!
A Little Dolly Inspiration
Dolly’s love of books is about so much more than reading. Growing up in East Tennessee, she saw firsthand how her father’s inability to read and write affected his opportunities. That experience stayed with her, and in 1995 she created Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library—a program that gives children free, age-appropriate books from birth through age five.
What started as a way to put books into the hands of children in her home county has grown into a worldwide gift of imagination, confidence, and possibility. And honestly, I think that is the perfect message behind this card:
Because isn't that what we hope our handmade cards do? A little paper hug. A little encouragement. A little reminder that someone is thinking of you.
For this card, I wanted my girl to have that unmistakable Dolly-inspired feeling, so I gave her golden curls, a bright blue outfit, and plenty of sparkle. I paired her with the beautiful sentiment from the set and created a background that looks like the pages of a well-loved book. And, of course, I couldn't resist adding actual books to the photo styling! 📚
