Buzz-Worthy đ Techniques

Happy Friday! It's a new week and I've got some buzz-đ-worthy techniques to apply on your next crafty adventure. For this series of cards, I used the new July 2025 Uniquely Unity: Be Hold stamp kit featuring these adorable bees. Let's get inky!

Tone-on-Tone Stenciling
For this first card {and I used this technique on all the cards}, I used colored card stock and added stenciling in the same color to add a little more detail. Using the Tim Holtz Brush Hex stencil, I added Fossilized Amber and Mustard Seed to add a little subtle detail.

From there, I added lots of layers to enhance the bee theme using the HoneyComb Chaos die {retired} and the MFT - Stitched Hexagon STAX dies {retired}. It's best to use thin foam tape to add a little dimension with some elements.

Tearing Titles
This next technique is a classic. Before dies and all of these amazing crafty tools, paper crafters would just tear paper. So for this card {and the previous one}, I die cut white card stock using the largest Deckle & Stitched die set and stamped the sentiment on the lower left side. Next... tear the paper from one end to the other.

There are two ways to tear paper and this will make a difference if you are using colored card stock with a different core color. If you tear away from yourself, the torn edge will be clean. If you tear toward yourself, the edge will show the core and will take any inking differently. Practice on scrap if you're not sure.

Clean Edges
I love the look of a clean edge, and when using stitched dies like the Terrific Tickets die {retired}, its a great way to add more dimension without bulk. In order to make this happen, I used washi tape (or masking tape) to cover the edges right up to the stitched line and ink up the piece.

Here's a closer look at how leaving the white edge detail on this die cut piece also separates it from the background without adding another layer of cardstock. You an use this with any stitched edge die cut.
Supplies used:
Honeycomb Chaos Dies {retired}
Distress Inks: Fossilized Amber & Mustard Seed
Copics: Y19, Y18, Y15, Y06, BG10, BG000, BG0000, C4
I hope you've found some inspiration in today's blog and try some of these old & new paper crafting techniques. I'd love to hear if you've tried these before or if they spark new ideas!
Until next time... Happy Crafting!
