If you’re looking for a card that’s equal parts sweet, whimsical, and heartfelt, this Hop to My Heart design checks all the boxes. This adorable bunny holding a "Be Mine" heart is perfect for Valentine’s Day, anniversaries, or just-because happy mail. Today I’m walking you through how to recreate this card step by step, plus sharing the exact supplies I used so you can easily craft along.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Stamp the Focal Image
Stamp the bunny image onto smooth white cardstock using a Copic-safe black ink. This will be your focal panel, so choose a cardstock that handles alcohol markers well.
2. Color the Image
Color the bunny and heart using alcohol markers. Keep the tones soft and warm to enhance the sweet, handmade feel. I chose colors that were inspired from the background paper. Add light shading under the bunny to ground the image and give it dimension.
3. Add Background Interest
Lightly blend ink along the bottom of the panel to create a grassy base. This subtle detail adds depth without overpowering the image. Use washi tape to cover the edges to keep it white.
4. Mat the Image
Die cut or trim the colored panel and layer it onto a postage die cut mat using patterned paper. The bold pattern helps frame the image and draws the eye to the center of the card.
5. Build the Card Base
Adhere the layered focal panel to a coordinating card base. Mixing patterns and textures keeps the design playful and visually engaging.
6. Finish with Embellishments
Wrap twine around the panel and tie a simple bow. This soft, rustic touch balances the bright colors and adds texture. Keep embellishments minimal so the image remains the star.
