Making Cards for the Men in Your Life

I often see posts about how hard it is to make a masculine card. One of the things I LOVE about Unity Stamp Co., they have such a wide variety of stamps. There are so many options just for masculine cards. Here's a couple of cards I made using a motorcycle and sentiment from the June 2018 Kit of the Month: We Can Rise. Subscribing to the KOTM has a lot of benefits:

- Guaranteed Happy Mail!

- A lot of high quality stamps

- A great variety of stamps, some you may not have ordered on your own

- Coordinated stamps that you can mix and match

Now back to this masculine card...

One of the most basic things to do when making a masculine card is color. I feel like an easy way to make a card more masculine is to use more earth tones: greens, blues, browns and grays. For this card, I found a VERY old paper pad with some distressed looking paper. I love to stamp on patterned paper and this was light enough to use. I stamped the motorcycle using Ink on 3's Blackout Detail Ink. From there, I colored the motorcycle in using Copic markers.

Next, I used the Tim Holtz "Treads" layering stencil to put track marks going vertically on the card using distress ink without coloring over the motorcycle. Finally, I used a dull gold embossing powder by Recollections for the sentiment on black card stock. (Note: Metals are another great embellishment for masculine cards.) I used another piece of olive paper to layer it on for added layer. Last, I added some beige twin and tied it around the paper after backing it on black card stock. I taped it to the back of the paper so that there was no bow. Another alternative to a bow is a knot for a masculine card. Used foam squares, I popped up the sentiment and adhered it to a beige card base.

Below is another version of this same card using other colors (click on the arrow to see another angle). I hope that you find some inspiration for the next masculine card you need to make.

Thanks again for stopping by. I hope you subscribe to my blog to see more of the cards I love to make. Until next time... Happy Crafting!
