Scraps That Bloom

There’s something so satisfying about creating a card from leftover scraps and tiny embellishments that have been waiting for their moment to shine. This card featuring the new Unity Stamp Company Buzzy Blooms stamp set is a reminder that even the smallest bits and pieces can come together beautifully.
For this design, I pulled out scraps from the gorgeous Where Petals Meet Paper collection and layered them together for a soft vintage-inspired background. The warm yellows and muted greens felt perfect for spring, friendship, and all the sweetness these tiny bees bring to the card.
To add a little shimmer and texture, I splattered the background with green patina Perfect Pearls. It creates the prettiest soft sparkle when the light hits it — one of those little details that makes handmade cards feel extra special.
The floral image was stamped and colored using Distress Ink, with extra shading and details added using Copics. Then came my favorite part: the bees. Instead of stamping them directly onto the flowers, I stamped them separately, fussy cut them out, trimmed away the legs so they would sit naturally on the petals, and popped them up with thin foam tape for dimension.
All those tiny finishing touches — the olive burlap string, layered scraps, dimensional bees, and sentiment from the Comfort Companion Ephemera pack — work together to create a card that feels warm, thoughtful, and full of heart. A true little paper hug.

Step-by-Step Tutorial
Step 1: Create the Background
Cut patterned paper scraps from the Where Petals Meet Paper collection to fit an A2 card front. Layer the pieces together, leaving some overlap for added interest and texture.
Step 2: Add Sparkly Splatters
Mix green patina Perfect Pearls with a small amount of water and splatter it across the background using a paintbrush. Set aside to dry completely.
Step 3: Stamp the Floral Image
Stamp the large floral image from the Buzzy Blooms stamp set onto smooth white cardstock using a waterproof black ink.
Step 4: Color the Florals
Use Distress Ink to watercolor the flowers and leaves. Once dry, enhance shadows and fine details with Copic markers for extra depth and dimension.
Step 5: Stamp and Fussy Cut the Bees
Stamp the bees separately and color them. Carefully fussy cut each bee, trimming away the legs so they can sit naturally on top of the flower petals.
Step 6: Add String Detail
Before adhering the floral image, wrap olive burlap string around the striped panel and tie into a bow.
Step 7: Assemble the Card
Use thin foam tape to adhere the floral image to the card front. Then attach the bees with additional thin foam tape to create dimension and movement.
Step 8: Add the Sentiment
Fussy cut a sentiment from the Comfort Companion Ephemera Pack and adhere it across the floral arrangement.
Step 9: Finish the Card
Attach the completed card front to an ivory card base.
