So Many Ways to Stamp

Happy Friday, Crafty Friends! This is Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules and today I'm sharing some fun ways to use the amazingly ginormous "Colossal Snowflake" stamp! And it is COLOSSAL, and comes with so many options! Here are two different ways I used this beautifully detailed stamp.

Let's start with a gold embossing powder for a vintage snowflake look. Even with this thicker embossing powder, the details still shine through. To add a little texture with this image, I stamped the "Love & Wisdom Background" stamp in a light brown. By adding some brown ink to the edging this gives a weathered look to the paper. With all this grunge, I added the "blessed" die cut from the "Blessed and Happy Everything" stamp and die set to bring a gentle touch to this card.

Same Colossal Snowflake, but now in super fine detail white embossing powder. What I love of using embossing powder is that you can add color over it and wipe it off and that embossing powder comes back to life! I used some distress oxides which give paper a velvety feel. To add a little bling to these subtle colors, I framed the colored card stock with gold paper, added gold sequins and used some gold foil to foil this printed sentiment.

So these two slimline cards were a little bit of an experiment (and I'll share some of my mistakes), but definitely learned a few things. These were made using Yupo paper, alcohol inks and alcohol lift-ink.

Now, if you're new to alcohol inks, it can be amazing, but for someone who likes structure, it can get a little crazy too. I kept it simple with three shades of blue and moved it all over the piece. Once it was dry, I used the alcohol lift-ink on the Colossal Snowflake stamp and stamped it on the alcohol inked piece. So what this ink does is it lifts it from the Yupo paper. Now the real fun part is when you take that same inked up stamp and stamp it on another paper! It transfers that ink!

But here's where I messed up. So Yupo paper isn't for any kind of ink. I made the mistake of stamping the beautiful sentiment from the "Holiday. Faith. Hope. Love." stamp set, but the ink ran into the spots where the alcohol ink was... and well, that was a fail. So, I ended up covering it, but I love that the alcohol ink and lift ink don't let it lose the detail of this gorgeous snowflake.

Make sure to try different things with your cards and explore your creativity.

Until next time... Happy Crafting!
