Creativity with Your KOM

Happy Friday! It's Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules on the blog today with some easy ideas using the October 2022 Kit of the Month: Change and Direction. If you're still on the fence about signing up for any of Unity's Memberships, you're going to want to check this out!

For this blog, I tried using almost all of the stamps with only Three colors of Archival ink from Kit #4... so no coloring here and look how colorful these cards are! Let's start with the brightest card.

For this first card, I stamped the sentiment first and used a torn piece of post-it tape over it to cover it while stamping. From here, I stamped the leaves using Red Geranium, Orange Blossom and Fern Green Archival inks.

After stamping all the leaves, I remove the masking and put it all together. 🍂 Easy breezy! 🍂 Another fun option is to do second generation stamping and layer the leaves. So many possibilities. Let's do another one!

For this next card, I wanted to take the beautifully detailed strand of wheat stamp and curve it to the stitched circle die. Here's how you can do this with any long red rubber stamp!

Lay down the circle die cut in your Misti (or other stamping tool). Lay your stamp near the section you'd like to stamp and curve it. Close the Misti and eyeball where you can curve the stamp in the area. Each stamp will have some limitations, but you should be able to alter it a bit with this technique!

I added more of the other stamps in the circle and used the really cool distressed background stamp to create a cool background. Again, all the same three inks for this card. How about one more for the road!

This card uses the two dotted leaves in the Kit of the Month and the three Archival inks to create a whimsical autumn background. To add layers to this background, I used the Make-A-Tag small stitched die to cut a tag out of the patterned paper. Using the matching scalloped tag die, I die cut that layer from a burnt orange card stock.

Using foam tape and jute rope, I adhered the tag right over where I die cut it on the background. This creates a focal point. Using the same burnt orange card stock, I matted that background and stamped the sentiment for the front. To add a little extra, I used a faux wood leaf over the tag.

This Kit of the Month (as do all the others) has unlimited potential. Just image, these 3 cards were created using just three ink colors... and no coloring! And don't forget, if you subscribe before the end of the year, you'll be locked into the current price!

Until next time... Happy Crafting!
