One Background = Three Cards

Happy Friday! This is Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules and today we are doing some inking that is out of this world! I was so inspired by the video Whitney had posted using the new "Starlight Background" and her Distress Oxide inks that I had to try this!

I looked up some Oxide night sky blends and found this combo:

  • Fossilized Amber

  • Faded Jeans

  • Wilted Violet

  • Hickory Smoke

  • Black Soot

Check out this video tutorial to see how I used these colors to create this galaxy background!

The other part of this blog is how I used this ONE A2-sized background to create THREE fun cards! See the diagram below to show how to cut your background. Note that I did use the middle stitched square from the Scallops & Squares Die set. That measurement is 2.5" x 2.5".

I opted not to use the scalloped dies, but instead matted all the stamped backgrounds with black card stock. This allowed the background to pop on the card. I also used some foam tape to add a little extra dimension. And what better way to pair a galaxy background than with aliens?! I stamped three of the monsters from the "Monster Hugs" stamp kit and colored them with Copics.

Thankfully these cute stamps are not out of this world... order them (if you don't have them already) today and prepare to explore a whole new world with this fun background.

Happy Crafting!
