One Simple Ombre

Hi everyone!  This is Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules and I'm so excited about the start of sneak peek weeks on the Sassy & Crafty blog.  Today, I'll start with this super simple but colorful background to highlight this new sentiment set called "Grateful."  This set is filled with beautiful words of inspiration ready for any card-front.

To make this ombre background, I started with a piece of watercolor paper cut to 4" x 5.25".  Using my Viviva watercolors, I started with light green.  Watering down the top part and using more ink as I go down. Blended in the next color, sap green. Next, blending in using water, veridian and lastly peacock blue.  If you have any harsh lines, you can use a clean water brush to blend them in smoothly.  Once your blend is perfect, you can let it air dry or use your heat gun to set the color. These watercolors are so bold, you'll definitely want to check them out.

Next, I trimmed the piece.  Sometimes, this is the hardest part because you're cutting your little masterpiece.  LOL. However, I cut the piece into a 1.25", 2" and .75".  Placing the 2" piece into my Misti, I stamped the sentiment on the lower right hand corner using Versafine Clair ink in Nocturne.  To give this card a little extra, I flipped the two other pieces so that it off set the colors and added a small piece of black card stock cut to 2.25" behind the center piece and used foam adhesive to add it to the card base.

You can definitely try this with any of your watercolors, oxides, distress inks any other fun coloring medias.  it's a super simple way to highlight a strong sentiment.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you found some inspiration.  Make sure to subscribe to the blog so you'll always be "in the know" of all that is Sassy & Crafty.

Until next time... have a Sassy & Crafty day!

Jules
